Job Summary:
The Associate position will support all elements of asset management and will be involved in a wide range of commercial real estate investment strategies in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The role will support a Senior Vice President in managing the operations, leasing, financing and valuation of the investments. The position may also include responsibility for the oversight of individual assets under the supervision and direction of the Senior Vice President. The position requires the ability to understand fully the assets’ investment objectives and strategies, related loan documents, partnership agreements, and historical and projected property performance. The Associate role is intended to provide the opportunity for motivated, talented individuals over time to gain the experience and judgment to progress to asset manager level competency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and review quarterly valuation and reforecast models
- Review and scrutinize annual operating budgets and monthly financial statements
- Prepare property performance reports for internal management
- Monitor investment partners, third party property managers and leasing agents to improve property performance
- Model hold/sell and various analysis for senior management
- Perform periodic property inspections; some travel required
- Develop, review and implement annual business plans
- Update and maintain market information for Multifamily, Build-to-Rent and SFR product types
- Assist in the disposition process: Procure of BOVs, broker-buyer interviews, organize DD materials and facilitate transaction related tasks.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the operational and investment fundamentals of institutional real estate
- Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills required
- Must have strong quantitative analysis skills; financial modeling experience is helpful
- Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment with low to moderate supervision and the freedom to propose and implement creative solutions
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required
- Working knowledge of ARGUS is helpful but not required
- 1-3 years of experience in a commercial real estate organization, or private equity, investment banking, or commercial banking experience with a real estate focus.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
