Managing Director, Senior Equity Asset Manager

Mr. Woods joined in March 2024 and serves as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Asset Manager on behalf of C-III Capital Partners and Island Capital Group.

James Woods is a Managing Director within the asset management group. Mr. Woods’ focus is on hotel and multifamily investments, including affordable and rent regulated apartment communities in the Recovery Funds.

Most recently, Mr. Woods was as senior member of the executive team at WeWork Capital Advisors (WeCap), an investment manager focused on the office sector.  His responsibilities at WeCap included investing on behalf of WeCap-managed vehicles, asset management of a diverse portfolio of office, retail and land/redevelopment assets, and portfolio management. Prior to WeCap, he led WeWork’s multifamily platform, WeLive, which focused primarily on the conversion of office assets into short-term, serviced residential apartments.

Mr. Woods’ hospitality career spans two decades and includes time at Starwood Hotels and Resorts where he focused on the expansion of the W Hotels brand and its entry into the branded-residential sector, as well as leading the creation and roll-out of the company’s select service brands, Aloft and Element. Following his time with Starwood, he formed Dallas-based, Keen Partners, a development and investment firm which partnered with institutional partners on hospitality assets, and which was later contributed into Hayman Woods, an opportunistic investor in single-family land and lots, multifamily assets and lifestyle assets including luxury golf-anchored communities, where he was a Senior Managing Director.

Mr. Woods is a graduate of the Stern School of Business at New York University, where he earned a B.S in Finance and International Business.
